Sherlock Holmes, the classic detective, using deductive reasoning to solve many a case. The new movie premiering Christmas Day this year, delves deep into Victorian England, to tackle what is probably the most difficult case Holmes has ever had to solve, and save Britain in the process.
A star cast is taking part in this adventure mystery, distributed by Warner Bros.. Robert Downing Jr. is playing the ever vigalent Holmes, and Jude Law is playing the faithful Watson. The main antagonist is the Lord Blackwood and is played by Mark Strong, and Rachel McAdams is playing Irene Adler, a feme fatale that outwitted Holmes on one occasion and earned his grudging respect.
The movie was filmed in Britain, and some main locations were the Freemasons' Hall and St. Paul's Cathedral in London. The Doyle estate had some say in the movie, as there was a bit of a legal battle, due to the Holmes stories being public domain in the United States.
The look of the film was also considered when designing what Holmes and Watson would dress like and how many of the sets would look. The designers tried to stick to the classic look of Victorian England, while at the same time keeping with the classic image of Holmes that most viewers would have in their minds. And best of all, we have it first for everyone to see!
